15% in a month. That's not a win.

Made 15% in a month on a position I expected to take six months.

Most people would celebrate. I started recalibrating.

When returns show up faster than your timeframe assumed, that's not only alpha. That can be a risk management problem.

AI is compressing how fast capital piles into themes. Flows that used to build over quarters now play out in weeks. The thesis doesn't change. The speed at which it gets priced does.

Most traders won't adjust. They'll ride the position, watch gains compress back to zero, and call it conviction.  I'm all for running your winners but if options markets are showing me signs of fatigue, I listen.

Conviction without a recalibrated timeframe when an asset has far outperformed its typical vol-adjusted move is more like stubbornness and hope.

If "long term" means two months right now, your entire risk playbook needs to reflect that. Not next quarter. Now.
